Joanna Salzman is an Executive Function Coach here at Orchid Center for students in elementary and middle school. She has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Middle School from James Madison University, and a Masters of Arts in Special Education from American University. She also has an Administrator I certification from Townson University.
Joanna has 30 years of experience in the field of Special Education and has taught at both the Elementary and Secondary levels. She worked in both Prince George’s County and Montgomery County. She worked in the Special Education office for 14 years in Montgomery County as an Instructional Specialist, as well as a Special Education Supervisor who was responsible for services in 35 schools.
Joanna has done training for teachers during New Educator Orientation for many years. She has observed hundreds of students and has made recommendations to staff and parents on how to best meet their needs in the classroom. She has also presented at the Maryland State Education Association Conference in both 2020 and 2021.
